The 78th Enlarged Executive Committee / General Body Meeting of UELCI was held in Gurukul Lutheran Theological College on November 14 & 15, 2006. The President, Vice-Presidents, Executive Committee members, Bishops, Secretaries and Treasurers of the eleven member churches of UELCI, Chairpersons and Secretaries of each Desk and well wishers attended the Meeting. The Meeting started with a Morning Devotion in which the homily was shared by Rev. Dr. Gideon Devanesan, President, UELCI. Soon afterwards matters that arose from the previous Meeting were discussed which was followed by the Executive Secretary’s Report. Salient features and activities of LWF, WCC and LMCI were highlighted. Reports and Power Point presentations were simultaneously read and screened by the Secretaries of each Desk. After each Report, floor was open for discussions which brought about healthy comments and suggestions from the participants. The respective Secretaries and Chairpersons responded to the comments and suggestions. The Meeting ended with a Vote of Thanks by the Executive Secretary in which he said, “We thank and praise God for giving us the opportunity, through the support of our partners and cooperation of the heads and members of our member churches, to be involved with the poor and the needy in our country. We consider each programme, not just as a programme or as a project but as a part of God’s ministry. More such ministries have to be fathomed and put into action.”
